Alzheimer Café Launches in Leixlip

The Alzheimer Café Leixlip launches on Wednesday April 13th at 7pm in “The Conservatory”, Ryevale Nursing Home, Leixlip.

It will provide an informal “café” atmosphere for people with dementia, and their partners, families and friends to connect with each other and to interact with health and social care professionals and other experienced volunteers, in a supportive and safe environment.

Attendance is free of charge and there is plenty of parking available. Art Exhibition in Leixlip – Mill Lane Artists

November Art Exhibition: Mill Lane Artists will present a collection of mixed paintings of oil/watercolour/acrylic.

Mill Lane Artists are a group of amateur painters who meet each Monday in the Adult learning and training centre in Maynooth. They present their work with the support of Mary Faughnan and expert tutorage of Rachel Malone.

The exhibition will be open to view during library open door times on Monday 23rd November during standard Library opening hours – 2.00pm-5.00pm.

All welcome.

Manufacturing Technician Maintenance Skills course

This course is a Manufacturing Technician Maintenance Skills course, created by FIT with the support of Intel Ireland. The course will be run through the KWETB in Celbridge, due to start soon.

An information session will be held in the Lucan Spa Hotel on the 13th of November at 10.00 AM. We would like to invite people along to get more information about the course. We are also trying to encourage women toward this course to promote diversity in the workforce.

Start date: 30th November 2015.
Location: Celbridge Community Training, The Mill Community Centre, Celbridge.

Are you looking to gain qualifications to go into a caring role? Or are you looking to pursue further education opportunities? If you have said yes to either of these questions this course could be for you!

This course has been designed to provide students with an introduction to the area of Social Care which will enable them to achieve both the applied and academic skills required for further study and future employment.

Subjects Include: Human Growth & Development, Work Experience, Communications, Care Support, Understanding Special Needs, Care of the older person, Social Studies, and Personal Effectiveness.

Local 21 Year Old Missing….

Dylan-CorcoranThe family of a missing 21-year-old who has not been seen for four days are “very concerned” for his whereabouts.

Dylan Corcoran was last seen at 5.30pm on Thursday evening, September 3, at Rockfield Grove in Maynooth, Co Kildare.

Dylan is described as being 6’2″ to 6’3″ in height and of slim build.

He has short dark brown hair and brown eyes.

When last seen, Dylan was wearing blue jeans and a red hoodie with runners, and was carrying a black and red rucksack.

Gardai in Leixlip along with his family are worried about the young man and are appealing for anyone who may have seen him or may have any information to contact the Gardai in Leixlip on 01 6667800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

North Kildare Recycling Facility

41673103_sKildare County Council has announced plans to develop a new recycling centre in North Kildare. Expressions of interest are now invited from landowners and agents for suitable lands to locate the new facility in the general vicinity of Celbridge, Leixlip and Maynooth.

A site area of circa 1.5- 2.5 hectares (3.5- 6 acres) is envisaged as being suitable. The facility must have good road access to both local and wider area users. Both freehold and long term leasehold options will be considered.
