Housing Estate Speeding Limits Review

13521116_sFed up with traffic speeding in your estate? Now is the chance to change it!

Kildare County Council is undertaking a review of speed limits in residential estates.

The review of current speed limits is being undertaken to ensure that housing estate roads are as safe as possible for pedestrians, cyclists and especially children.

Residents Associations/Members of the Public are invited to make submissions to the Council suggesting residential estates for the possible introduction of a 30 km/h speed limit.

Submissions can be made in writing marked “30 km/h speed limit” to the

Paid Parking in Leixlip

The paid parking times in Leixlip are up for review by Kildare County Council. Cllr. Frank O’Rourke was instrumental in getting the reduced parking hours currently in place. He has asked us to run this survey to get feedback on what local people want so that he can make a submission to the council regarding proposed changes.

The survey is anonymous but at the last question you have the option to enter in your name and contact details if you wish. Any individual  information gathered by us will be shared with Cllr. Frank O’Rourke only. To start the survey click the button above.

Suicide Alertness Programme

SafeTALK is a 3.5hour suicide alertness programme that prepares participants to be suicide alert helpers. In only a few hours, you will learn how to provide practical help to persons with thoughts of suicide. Expect to leave safeTALK more willing and able to perform an important helping role for persons with thoughts of suicide.

People who complete this training

  • will be trained suicide alert helpers. They will be better able to
  • move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide identify people who have thoughts of suicide
  • apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe) to connect a person with suicide thoughts to suicide first aid, intervention caregivers.

Designed for

All caregivers which includes professionals, paraprofessionals and lay people. It is suitable for anyone over 18 – mental health professionals, nurses, physicans, teachers, counsellors, youth workers, guards and Parents , school support staff, clergy and community volunteers.

All attendees will receive certificates of attendance

Changes to Leixlip Community Welfare Service

The Department of Social Protection have announced some changes to the Leixlip Clinic which currently operates fortnightly on Wednesday from 10am to 12pm. These changes will come into effect on 15th April.

The new location will be

Maynooth Health Centre Tuesday 10.00 – 12.00pmWednesday 10.00 – 12.00pm

Thursday 10.00 – 12.00pm

Customers can attend the two hour clinics held on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Maynooth Health Centre, where in addition to the Community Welfare Service Department, the Branch Office is located along with the Department’s Employment Services Office. Customers can also use the phone service which is available Mon - Fri at 01 6106143

In addition, where a person is unable to travel to the Maynooth clinic, for example due to illness, a phone service will be available for the client to contact the Community Welfare Service. If required, a member of staff can arrange to visit the client’s home.

Emergencies requiring the assistance of the Community Welfare Service outside of normal working hours will remain in place. A contact phone number for accessing this is with an Garda Siochana, HSE and other relevant authorities.

If you know of a community group who might qualify for a grant, let them know about this scheme….  All Community and Voluntary Groups are welcome to apply for the Community Grant schemes with the exception of sports clubs. These clubs can apply under Kildare Sports Partnership Grant Scheme.
